Overview of the book of Numbers

Numbers 1:2-3 (NKJV)
Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their familles, by
their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, every male individually,
From twenty years old and above-all who aro able to go to war in lsrael. You and
Aaron shall number them by their armies.

  • The book of Numbers tells of the preparation and journey to the promise land.
  •  It describes the murmuring, complaining and disobedience of the Israelites that led to forty years of wandering in the wilderness. 
  • The Hebrew title for this book is "ln the Wilderness."

    • Numbers 2:2(NKJV) "Everyone of the children of Israel shall camp by his own standard, beside the emblems (flag or banner) of his father's house; they shall camp some distance from the tabernacle of meeting.

      • 1 Corinthians 10:4(NKJV) and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
