Where are the Young People?

  1. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
  2. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
  3. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
  4. Notice that Jesus was very displeased with his disciples for sending the children away. Jesus explains that Children are those who make up the kingdom of God.

  5. Now many churches don't like to deal with children. They don't understand that without children coming into the church, the church will lose out. It will lose the blessing of God. It will eventually lose members. The old people will not live forever and without the next generation the church will be forced to close its doors.

  6. Yes, children are messy, noisy, and difficult. That is one reason why God said, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6). Children do not come into the world knowing how to behave. They have to be taught. It is not right to simple push them aside until they are old enough to be helpful. By that time, they will not be there. I have heard it said too often that it is a miracle that any mother is still a Christian. That statement unfortunately is true. As a mother of young children, I was pushed aside. I was told to come back after my children are grown so that I can be useful. When a mother is more or less told that her babies are not welcome because they are inconvenient, she loses the desire to go to church. Without a support system, it is hard to keep going.   This must stop. Churches must be welcoming in word and deed to children. This includes difficult children and special needs children. Jesus would have welcome all of the children.

Festivals of God

#1 Passover

When: 14th day of 1st month – 22 day of 1st month (March/April)

Meaning: Redemptive sacrifice/ Death of Jesus

Scriptures:

·         Ye shall observe this thing (Passover) for an ordinance to thee and thy sones for ever. Exodus 12:24

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:  1 Corinthians 5:7

#2 Unleavened Bread

When: 14th day of 1st month – 22 day of 1st month (March/April)

Meaning: Sanctification/ Burial of Jesus - He suffered no decay

Scriptures:

And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. Exodus 12:17

And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples, Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Mathew 26:1-2

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:8

#3 First Fruits

When: The 1st day after the Sabbath during the 8 days of Passover
Meaning: Resurrection of Jesus

Scriptures:

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. Leviticus 23:10-11
Notice that the first fruits had to be taken to the priest at the temple. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. John 20:17. Jesus needed to go present himself as the first fruits offering.
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. I Corinthians 15:20-23

#4 Pentecost
When: And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord. Leviticus 23:15-16

Meaning: This is when the church age began. It is when the Holy Ghost was made available to everyone. The Holy Ghost is the comforter and helper that Jesus said would come.

Scriptures:
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. Joel 2:28-32
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:14-21

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. John 14:17-19

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:4-8

#5 Trumpets
When: 1st day of the 7th month.
Meaning: Resurrection

Scriptures:
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. Leviticus 23:24

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:52

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17

But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. Revelation 10:7

And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail. Revelation 11:15-19

#6 Day of Atonement
When: 10th day of the 7th month
Meaning: Day of Judgement- the books are opened

Scriptures:
Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

#7 Tabernacles
when: 14th day of the 7th month (Sept/ Oct.)
Meaning: Heaven

Scriptures:
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord. Leviticus 23:34

And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates. Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall choose: because the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice. Deuteronomy 16:14-15
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. Zechariah 14:16-19

And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast. Hosea 12:9

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelations 21:3

  • If you keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love John 15:10

     Also consider 1 Corinthians 11:27-32

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

This doesn't mean we are under the law. It simply means that there are consequences to every action. In the past God allowed dieses and sickness to come upon people when they disobeyed. Also, remember that not every sickness is a punishment. However, many times in the Bible that was the case. Let's be proactive by trying to obey God in every area of our lives and being quick to repent when we fail.

  • 2 Corinthians 12:7

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the fleshthe messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Sometimes we go through things so we can be at the right place at the right time to help someone else.

What are the Feasts of God and Why are they Important?

The feasts include Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, Tabernacles, and the Sabbath. It may be argued that these feasts are Jewish and solely part of the old covenant. However, the Lord's Word does not label them as exclusively Jewish; they are referred to as the Feasts of the Lord and are described as perpetual, which implies they are to continue forever. Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:17-19). Examine the chart, and it becomes evident that not everything has been accomplished.

I eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles, symbolizing Heaven for God's children.

Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. We have been grafted onto the good olive tree. Israel was the original good olive tree, the chosen ones. We, being the wild olive tree, have been grafted onto the good olive tree through Jesus and adopted into the family. Therefore, as adopted children, it stands to reason that we should learn and follow the rules of our new family. When I saw follow the rules, I mean follow the heart of the rule, not the letter of the rule. There are many aspects that we can't do. Also, Jesus has filled the law of sacrifice.

According to Romans 3:20 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." Hence, the Law is necessary to delineate the issue clearly. Indeed, we are saved by grace, but comprehending its full meaning is unattainable without grasping the Law or the rules that are beyond our reach without God's gracious aid. I am thankful that the need for sacrifices has ceased, as Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice.

When we remember the feasts, it gives us a chance to show our children and others just how wonderful our God is. I love keeping the Feasts with my children. It gives me a chance to do hands on teaching of some difficult areas of the Bible. Most children and adults learn better when they are able to see, touch, taste, and hear. Many of the Feasts give a perfect chance to walk through the Old Testament while looking ahead to the New Testament.  As I have pointed out, Jesus did not come to do away with the Law, but to fulfill the Law. According to (Matthew 22:36 40), "Jesus said unto him, ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, ‘Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

When you truly love someone and they invite you to spend time together, you make every effort to be there. Similarly, many profess their love for God but decline to participate in His feasts, which seems inconsistent. These feasts are not exclusive to Jews or limited to the Old Covenant. They serve as a reminder of God's deeds and a celebration of what He will do in the future.
