Can Christians Eat Blood?

There are many people who like to eat meat that has been cooked rare. There are some people in this world who use blood as a filling in Sauage meat. Is this permittable according to the Bible?

  •  Genesis 9:3-6 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
  • Leviticus 17:12-16 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.  And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.

  • Leviticus 19:26  Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
  • Deuteronomy 12:23-25  Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.
  • Acts 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
  • Acts 15:29 hat ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
  • Acts 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
From these scriptures it is plain to see that the refrain from eating blood part of the Law is still in effect even for gentiles. That rule was implemented by God from the time of the flood. It was restated under the law of Moses and the Apostles restated it, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as a requirement for the gentiles.

Yes, people today still eat blood. See this website for information about blood Sauage.  What Is Blood Sausage Made Of, And What Does It Taste Like?

Once Saved Always Saved?

Is it true that once you are saved that you are always saved? Let's see what the Bible really says.
  • Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
It seems from these verses that the person thought that he or she was saved. It is possible that they had an emotional experience that was mistaken for salvation. The words "I never knew you" means that there was not relationship developed with Jesus. In order to be truly saved, you must have relationship with Jesus.
  •  Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
This verse basically says that nothing can take us from Jesus. So, if you truly repent and give your like to Jesus, your salvation is secured from all forces. However, you need to be aware of a few points.
  • Hebrews 12:6-11 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
This means that disobedience to the commandments of God will get you punishment from God.

  • Mark 3:28-29 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
  • Hebrews 10:26-31 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.  He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?  For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.  It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
  • Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
These verses indicate that if you ever willfully and purposefully turn your back on God and renounce him it is not possible to renew again unto repentance. Thankfully, most of us has not ever drifted that far back into sin. This is not something that is even possible to do without a major conscience effort. I have only ever known of 2 people who did this, and they both had full understanding of their actions. So, to a degree once you are truly saved, you are eternally secure.
If you are in doubt of your salvation, please stop everything and repent. Then start working on your relationship with Jesus. You do this by praying and reading your Bible daily. A good place to start reading is the book of John.

Homemade Gravy

My Aunt gave me my grandmothers old cookbooks. 1 of the cookbooks is Quick Dishes for the woman in a hurry. In the cookbook it is called medium white sauce.

  2. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat until mixture bubbles.
  4. Remove from heat and add milk (water) gradually.

Fruit of the Spirit

The fruit of the spirit is not talking about actual fruit. It is talking about our actions and behavior.

Galatians 5:22-23 King James Version

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

  • Love: We are to show love to everyone including our enemies.  Matthew 5:43-48 - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
  • Joy: This does not mean we are happy all the time. This is talking about whether we have a good attitude about the situation.  Hebrews 12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
  • Peace: try hard to keep the peace Romans 12:17-19 - Recompense no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath; for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
  • Longsuffering: take a deep breathe before jumping straight to anger. Show love and kindness to those that do you wrong Ephesians 4:2- With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
  • Gentleness: be gentle; don't be so gruff about everything. Gentleness does not mean being weak. It takes a strong person to know when to back down. It is OK to smile and show emotion when something is nice, beautiful, sweet, good. It is good to say I love you to your family.
  • Goodness: be good
  • Faith: Keep faith in Jesus Hebrews 11:11- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  • Meekness: be humble, don't take credit for being better than you are. Colossians 3:12 - Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
  • Temperance: keep your head. Definition of temperance

1moderation in action, thought, or feeling RESTRAINT

2ahabitual moderation in the indulgence of the appetites or passions
bmoderation in or abstinence from the use of alcoholic beverages

Wash Your Hands

Is hand washing important according to the Bible? There are around 100 scriptures on washing. Many of those scriptures mention washing hands. Here are some scriptures that deal with hand washing:

  •  James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

  • Exodus 30:17-21 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LordSo they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.
  • Psalms 24:3-4 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Washing of hands and feet is symbolic of making yourself clean for God.

Today we know many reasons for washing hands. When God made the rule is said we were to wash hands so we would not die.

Washing hands prevents illnesses and spread of infections to others
Hand washing with soap removes germs from hands. This helps prevent infections because:
  • People frequently touch their eyes, nose, and mouth without even realizing it. Germs can get into the body through the eyes, nose and mouth and make us sick.
  • Germs from unwashed hands can get into foods and drinks while people prepare or consume them. Germs can multiply in some types of foods or drinks, under certain conditions, and make people sick.
  • Germs from unwashed hands can be transferred to other objects, like handrails, tabletops, or toys, and then transferred to another person’s hands.
  • Removing germs through hand washing therefore helps prevent diarrhea and respiratory infections and may even help prevent skin and eye infections.
Teaching people about hand washing helps them and their communities stay healthy. Hand washing education in the community:
  • Reduces the number of people who get sick with diarrhea by 23-40%
  • Reduces diarrhea illness in people with weakened immune systems by 58%
  • Reduces respiratory illnesses, like colds, in the general population by 16-21%
  • Reduces absenteeism due to gastrointestinal illness in schoolchildren by 29-57%
Not washing hands harms children around the world
About 1.8 million children under the age of 5 die each year from diarrhea diseases and pneumonia, the top two killers of young children around the
world.
  • Hand washing with soap could protect about 1 out of every 3 young children who get sick with diarrhea and almost 1 out of 5 young children with respiratory infections like pneumonia.
  • Although people around the world clean their hands with water, very few use soap to wash their hands. Washing hands with soap removes germs much more effectively.
  • Hand washing education and access to soap in schools can help improve attendance.
  • Good hand washing early in life may help improve child development in some settings.
  • Estimated global rates of hand washing after using the toilet are only 19% .
Hand washing helps battle the rise in antibiotic resistance
Preventing sickness reduces the amount of antibiotics people use and the likelihood that antibiotic resistance will develop. Hand washing can prevent about 30% of diarrhea-related sicknesses and about 20% of respiratory infections (e.g., colds). Antibiotics often are prescribed unnecessarily for these health issues. Reducing the number of these infections by washing hands frequently helps prevent the overuse of antibiotics—the single most important factor leading to antibiotic resistance around the world. Hand washing can also prevent people from getting sick with germs that are already resistant to antibiotics and that can be difficult to treat.

God knew about germs before we did. He created a law that involved hand washing to save His people from deadly disease.
