Going to Heaven

When I was about 5 or 6 years old, I begin to learn about Jesus, heaven, and hell. I was told that Jesus loves me so much that he came and died on the cross for my sins. I learned that 3 days later he came back to life. Later he went to heaven to create a home for everyone who believes in him. In heaven, there is no sickness, pain, or suffering. Someone said that hell is 10 times hotter than Georgia is in the summer time. I had been to Atlanta, Georgia in December and it was hot then. I did not want to go anywhere that it was hotter than Atlanta, Georgia.

During this time, I was also very sickly. There were many foods that I could not eat and playing with animals caused me to have an asthma attack. Someone said that there were animals in heaven. Therefore, I got it in my head that I wanted to go to heaven. You have to understand, I was tired of always being sick. I wanted to play with animals. The preacher had said no one is sick in heaven. Therefore, I got a few toys together. Then I sat in a corner and told Jesus that I was ready to go to Heaven. I did this everyday for about 2 weeks. My mom thought that I was playing either school or church. She did not know that I was waiting on Jesus to come get me and take me to heaven.

Finally, one night I had a dream. In the dream, Jesus came and took me to heaven. It was wonderful. I was able to eat all of the food that grew in the garden. This included tomatoes and butter bean. Both of which normally made me sick. I was also able to drink milk from a cow. In addition, I was able to play with the dogs, cats, lambs, horses, and goats. I had so much fun. Just being able to run in open fields without having an asthma attack gave me great joy.

Then Jesus talked to me. He explained that I still needed to live on earth. However, things would get better. He said that I could come back to heaven to live one day.

With time I out grew my childhood food allergies. Now I am able to eat whatever I want to. In addition, I no longer have the server asthma that I had as a child. Yes, it was several years before I out grew these problems, but Jesus was right things did get better.

As a child, I did not have perfect understanding of the Bible, but I understood enough to know that heaven is where I wanted to go. Hell is too hot, but heaven is perfect. I also understood that I had to talk to Jesus in order to go to heaven. Therefore, I persistently ask Jesus to take me to heaven. He answered my prayer in the best possible way. I know that whatever you may want or need, if you persistently ask Jesus, he will answer. The answer may be wait, yes, or no.

What Name to Baptize?

I want to touch on an issue of division within the Church. I have never understood how two people that are filled with the Holy Spirit can argue about the Bible. I believe that the devil has placed divisions in the church. Even Jesus says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). In addition, Jesus says, “If a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand (Mark 3:25). The devil knows that Christians would be stronger if we all stood together. The Bible is true and all scriptures are given by the inspiration of God. In addition Hebrews 6:18 and Titus 1:2 both tell us that God cannot lie.

One major issue it what name to baptize the newly won souls. The Bible does not lie nor does it contradict itself. Therefore, any of the phrases that the early disciples said is more than likely a good choice. However, I am one that likes the words in red, Jesus’ words. He is the only one that can save me. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost:” For those that would like to study more about this, here are some scriptures to get you started.

1. Acts 2:38 says, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

2. Acts 4:12 says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

3. Acts 8:16 says, “(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

4. Acts 10:48 says, “And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

5. Acts 19:5 says, “When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Some were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, in the name of the Lord, and in the name of Jesus Christ. Study for yourself which phrase is best. Just remember the phrase does not save you; you are saved because of your trust in Jesus. That may be the meaning of being baptized in the Name of Jesus. In addition, this is just another ploy by the devil to confuse people and cause division. Think about how many people have became so confused by one church saying you must be baptized in the Name of Jesus to be saved and another one says you must be baptized in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit to be saved. The last time I checked baptism in water does not save you. Jesus does the saving. The water baptism is just a simple act of obedience that symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

It seems that we have taken the simple message of salvation and turned it into a bunch of legalisms. While we as Christians are fighting over this, people are dying and going to Hell. The Devil is laughing at us. We should not be fighting over the correct phrase to use. Instead, we should unite and go as Jesus said, and teach everyone about him. Jesus gave us a very simple command in Matthew 28:19. Yes, it is difficult enough to get moving because of the opposition from the world. Why should we ourselves add to the problem? In Matthew 4:19, Jesus says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” I believe that Jesus is still saying the same thing today. I am just glad that He does all of the cleaning. All we have to do is teach and allow Jesus to move in their lives. When they accept Jesus, then baptize them, not confuse them especially since there are many different phrases used in the Bible for baptizing.

Nothing New

“The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

Some people find this hard to believe. Others do not see how they can find an example of their specific problem in the Bible. Everyone is always looking for the “newest” thing. However, there is nothing new. How is this possible? There have been so many inventions, new ideas, and new technology. Is there really nothing new?

Let’s look at some different issues that we face today and see if there is any examples of those same issues in the Bible.

1. Food- everyone needs food. The problem is how to get it. Today the issue is no money no food. Money is the means by getting the food. People have  always needed food to eat. How did people get food in the Bible?
They planted the food. “I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits” (Ecclesiastes 2:5)

They bought the food. Jacob said, “Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die” (Genesis 42:2).

They worked for charity. Back then the poor was allowed to go behind the field workers and collect some food to eat.  “When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow.” (Deuteronomy 24:19-20).

Today we buy the food, plant the food, or receive charity. Not much has changed.

2. A Place to live- people has always needed shelter.

People in ancient Israel used two types of housing:
tents for nomadic or semi-nomadic herders

houses, either large or small, in villages or cities

 

Today will live in houses, mobile homes, or apartments. Some houses are large and some are small. Some people live in the city while others live in some communities. 

3. Sibling jealousy

Today anyone that has more than one child knows that siblings can be jealous of one another. This problem can reek havoc in families. Did this problem exist in the Bible? 

Yes, just look at Esau and Jacob. They wanted to kill each other. Does that sound familiar? “And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him : and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand ; then will I slay my brother Jacob.” (Genesis 27:41)

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. 

“Judah said unto his brethren; What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.” (Genesis 37:27).

4. Difficult Boss

So, you think that your boss it difficult; try working for some of the bosses in the Bible.

Have you ever been put into prison for offending your boss? 

Genesis 40:1-3 says, “And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers , and against the chief of the bakers. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison , the place where Joseph was bound.”

Have you ever been thrown to the lions for breaking the rules? 

Daniel was thrown to the lions by his boss after getting caught praying.

5. Unruly Children

David’s son raped his sister (see 2 Samuel 13:1-19)

“And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister. And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel do not this folly…Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her” (2 Samuel 13:11-12 & 14)

Samuel’s children took bribes  

“And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.” (1 Samuel 8:3).

  

6. Trouble with N-laws

David’s father-n-law sent an army to kill him. (See 1 Samue124:1-22; Psalm 57).

7. Homelessness

Son of man does not have a place to lay his head.

“Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20).

Songs

Songs tell stories about the way that we feel. In the 1950’s - 1960’s the people came to church early. Also many people  went to the backside of the field to pray.  Often they sung the song “Sweet Hour of Prayer”. They prayed an hour of more each and every day. During this time, people saw God work in mighty ways and people frequently came into the church and gave their lives to Jesus.

Now we sang “Just a Little talk with Jesus”. Most people are too busy to pray an hour a day. It is funny that now we are too busy when we have modern technology that is suppose to make our lives easier and save time. Examples are wash machines, dryers, and microwaves. How is it possible that we are too busy and the people back then had time?

I sometimes wonder if you think to pray. Now a few people sang “Do You Think to Pray?”. Most people now days only call on God when trouble comes. They never think to pray. They seem to forget God and his blessings.

One day your life will end. Did you think to pray or will it be too late to pray? “Too late to Pray” is the title to another song that some people sang. It explains how that when your life is over it will be too late to pray. Some people live like they are indestructible. They seem to not realize that God does not promise them a tomorrow. Babies, children, teenagers, young adults, and senior citizens die. This is evident by the fact that there are small, short and long graves. God sets your time here on earth. It is only too late to pray after you are dead. While you are alive think about your blessings and who gave them to you.

“Sweet Hour of Prayer” is better than an hour or so praying after something has gone wrong. Many times God allows bad things to happen so that we will remember him. If you are one that prays only after trouble comes, then God will allow you to experience more problems.

Please pray or talk to God each and every day. Then when problems come, God will know you and you will know your Heavenly Father. You will be able to “…come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16).

Easter

Next 2 months, we will be celebrating Easter. When you think about Easter, many things come to mind. However, I wonder if the most important reason for celebrating Easter makes the top of your list. Easter should be a time of reflection. We should think about what Jesus did  before, during, and after the cross. Some of his greatest work was done during this time.

1. He fulfilled the requirement of Passover.
A spotless lamb was required to atone for sin. He paid the price permanently. John 1:29 “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

2. He chanced the way Passover is celebrated.
I Corinthians 11:24-26 “and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”

3. He took away the fear of death
I Corinthians 15:54-57 “So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”  “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

4. Through his stripes (beating), we are healed.
I Peter 2:24 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Isaiah 53:5 “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

5. Through him, we can boldly approach the throne of Grace
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

6. On resurrection morning, his rose again. Now we can have eternal life through him.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”


As you are making plans to celebrate Easter, remember that there would be no Easter without the work of Jesus. Let us lead others to Jesus by putting Jesus first in all of our celebrations.

Mardi Gras: What is it?

It is the time of the year when Mardi Gras is being celebrated. Here in Baton Rouge, LA, it is a holiday that many people celebrate with great zeal. I was not born or raised here in Baton Rouge, LA. I was born and raised in Mississippi. In that part of Mississippi, we do not really recognize Mardi Gras as a holiday that is greatly celebrated. I understand that on the Gulf Coast they do have some celebrations. I really did not understand the point of Mardi Gras. Therefore, I have done a little bit of research into the origins of Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras started out in Rome as a pagan celebration. Mardi Gras was originally called Lupercalia. Having never heard of that pagan celebration, I looked in an online encyclopedia  to find out information about the celebration.

According to The Columbia Encyclopedia, 6th ed., Lupercalia is an “ancient Roman festival held annually on Feb. 15. The ceremony of the festival was intended to secure fertility and keep out evil. Two male youths, clad in animal skin, ran around the city slapping passersby with strips of goat skin. Because the youths impersonated male goats (the embodiment of sexuality), the ceremony was believed to be in honor of Faunus . The festival survived into Christian times and was not abolished until the end of the 5th cent.”

Later when the Christians brought Christianity to Rome, they decided not to completely abolish all of the pagan rituals. This ritual was turned into a time of Pre-Lent celebration. The people would have carnival style fun before the day of Lent.

Later the French explorer, Iberville, brought the celebration of Mardi Gras to Louisiana when he came in 1699.

After reading the information, I still do not understand why Christians celebrate Mardi Gras with such zeal. It really does not have any good spiritual signification in my opinion, because it started out as a fertility ritual to a pagan god. Also they changed it to a time of merry-making before that went into a time of abandonment. This abandonment is suppose to be a time of denying something that you really want in order to grow in your walk with God.

Training Children

Training children is a great responsibility that is given to parents by God. He has
 many things to say about the subject. One of my favorites is (Proverbs 22:6) “Train up a
child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart.” Notice the words
“train up a child”. Train is another word for teach. Therefore, you are suppose to teach
children not raise children. If God had intended for us to raise children, he would not
have said teach or train a child. My mom has always explained it this way, you raise
tomatoes and you teach or train a child. The major differences between raising tomatoes
and teaching children is this, tomatoes only need water, sunlight, dirt, and fertilizer while
children need love, mercy, discipline, food, clothing, shelter, and guidance just to name a
few things.  In addition, tomatoes can not walk, talk, or learn.

God is not silence on the reasons for teaching children, what to teach children, or
how to discipline them. He will give additional help if you simply ask him.
Remember he is the only perfect parent. It is amazing to me how man who is imperfect
has decided that one of the main forms of discipline talked about in the Bible is wrong. I
am referring to corporal punishment or a spanking. It is spoken of many times in
Proverbs. One notable place is (Proverbs 13:24) “He that spareth his rod hateth his son:
but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” The verse does not give anyone the right
to beat a child, but it does say correct the child. In other words making children listen and
obey shows that you love children. Think about it this way. If you love a young child you
will not let him touch a hot stove. You will instead make the child however necessary get
out of the kitchen. So why would you allow a child to talk on the phone half the night or
hang out with friends who are a bad influence. There are many ways of making children
obey such as talking to them, grounding them, and spanking them. Who cares if the child
says, “I hate you.” Just smile and say, “I love you.” However, even though we are the
parents and we have the right to discipline our children and train our children in the way
we see fit, we should always remember that Jesus says “Fathers, provoke not your
children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” (Colossians 3:21). This means that we should
not put so much pressure on them to be prefect that it is impossible for them to be
successful. Basically remember that just like you, they are still human and they will make
mistakes sometimes.

There are several things that God commands parents  to teach to children. Notice
that God commands the parents to teach the children. I have recently heard someone say parents are only responsible for 20% of teaching children and teachers are responsible for the other 80%. Is this what God’s commandment says? Why is it that God does not give
this commandment to the school teachers or government? Maybe it is because children
learn many valuable skills before going to school. Think about it. Children learn to walk,
talk and play before the age of 4. They do not go to school until at least the age of 5.
Therefore, parents are responsible for teaching children manners before they go to school. In addition, parents are responsible to make sure that their children are getting a good education on reading, mathematics, science, history, language arts, and any other important school subjects. Yes, teachers may be able to teach mathematics to children better than parents, but that does not release them of their God given responsibility. There are still many things that the parent  must do to help insure that their children are learning math. Those things include making sure their children get to bed on time, get up on time, do their homework, listen in class, have all necessary materials, ect. Some may say that they can not make sure that their children listen in class. That statement is false. Children  will behave on average better at school than at home. Therefore, if they are made to listen to instructions at home, they will listen at school.
Parents need to remember that children learn the meanings of words by listening to and watching those around them. A child has never said anything that he or she did not hear somewhere. Therefore, if you want your children to be respectful to others, you must act respectful at all times in front of him or her. If you want your child to learn about Jesus, you must tell them about Jesus. Remember that God commands that you teach your child his commandments. A great suggest is to teach Proverbs chapter 3 to them. This proverb explains how they can live a long healthy prosperous life. Notice how it starts out with obedience, “ My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:” (Proverbs 3:1).

Here are some more reasons to train up a child in the correct way. All children are
the future generation. For example a 5-year-old will be 21-years-old in 16 years. That
means that he will be consider legally an adult. He or she will have all the rights of an adult. Our children will be able responsible for the running of this country. So think about our children’s behavior. Do you really want some of the children in this country to be in charge? Why or why not? I suggest praying and then taking a good long look at your own children. If you like want you see, praise God. If you do not like what you see ask God for help and then follow his instructions.

Brand Name or Just Comfortable

Children are not born wanting name brand clothing, shoes, toys, or other items. They are taught that by the actions of those around them and by what they hear on television. Children are born wanting clothing, blankets, shoes, and socks that are soft and comfortable. They do not have any concept of name brands or prices.

My son, who is 20 months old, recently reminded me of this. We live in the south. One day it is cool and the next day it is hot. Therefore, he needed a new pair of sandals and a new coat. My husband and I took him to Burlington Coat Factory.  First, we went to the shoes. I found a pair of brown sandals that was about $25. He did not like them. He wanted his old sandals that are worn out. Those sandals came from Wal-mart. They only cost about $5. We then looked at the coats. None of the coats met with his approval. Therefore, we went across the street to Payless Shoes. There we found a nice pair of sandals that lights up when he walked. Those shoes were about $30. He did not like them because they were not soft like his old shoes. Finally, we decided to go and see if Wal-mart had a pair of sandals just like his old ones, but a size bigger. Unfortunately, Wal-mart did not. Since my son had fallen asleep, my husband found a good pair of sandals for $10 that was similar to the old pair. My husband also found a coat very similar to the old one. It is a different color, but it the same style.  Brando, my son is happy with his new shoes and coat. We are happy because now we know Brando is happy with shoes and clothes that are comfortable yet stylish.

Freezing Children

In the 1960’s Marcus and Ann started to church. They had two children, Paul who is 4 years old and Karen who is 6 months old. They lived about 50 miles from the church.

One cold Sunday morning, they got up early and drove to church for Sunday school. Then they stayed until after church that night.

Marcus drove a truck made in the 1940’s. It did not have a heater in it. It had been freezing all day. On the way home that night, Ann had the children wrapped up with homemade quilts. However, they were still very cold and crying. Marcus and Ann were freezing too. That is when Marcus said, “We are going to stop at that house up ahead.” Ann asked, “Do you know them?”. Marcus replied, “No, but I see smoke coming from there fireplace. We are going to stop there and get warm.” Therefore, they stop at the house. It was about 11 pm, but somehow the lights were still on.

Everyone got out of the truck. Marcus went and knocked on the door. An old man and lady came to the door. The couple could plainly see that Marcus, Ann, and the children were freezing. Marcus explained that they did not have a heater and it was very cold.

Surprisingly the old couple welcomed Marcus and his family to their home. At this time in the south, blacks and whites normally did not visit each other. The old couple was black and Marcus and his family was white.

The old couple got Marcus, Ann, and Paul something warm to drink. They also made sure that Karen got warm. They warmed up the quilts before wrapping the children up in them.

This story has been passed down in my family. No one remembers the name of the old couple, but I am sure that God knows their names. It was a miracle that they were still up at 11pm. I know that God blessed that couple because Jesus says, “ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:34-40).

Back to School

The Summer of 1967 is coming to a close and it is almost time for school. I, Karen, will be in the 1st grade. My brother, Paul, will be in the 5th grade. We attend a church school.

The Pastor is also the head of the school. He calls a meeting to discuss the new school year. Everyone that wanted to send their children to the church school is required to attend.

At the meeting, the pastor explained the school rules. He announced who the teachers were going to be. Lastly, he announced when school would begin for that year. School would start in about 2 weeks.

Most of the parents then spoke up and said, “Let school start sooner. I want to get my children back to school and out of the house.”

Well, guess what? My daddy, Marcus, stood up and walked to the front of everyone. He said, “I have something to say.” Marcus was the assistant pastor.

He proceeded to say, “If I felt the way you all have seem to, I would go home and get my gun. Then I would stand my 2 children outside against a wall and shot them.”

The people did not know what to say.

After hearing this, I hoped that daddy liked us and wanted us around.

To the day that my daddy died, every time he heard someone say, “I will be glad when the children go back to school or move out.” He would reply, “If I felt that way, I would stand them outside and shot them.

Marcus never shot any of his children. Therefore, he must have loved having them around.

Child-like Faith

Real faith always has a child-like aspect to it. The follow story tells about my mother's child-like faith during before, during and after Hurricane Camille. Like most five-year olds, she did not know theology. She simple trusted in Jesus. My mother told me this story a few years ago. It illustrates what Jesus was talking about in Mark 10:13-16, “…Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.” Every one that comes to Jesus must come as a child. God the Father is our heavenly Father. When we come to him through Jesus, we are adopted into his family.

Because she had been listening to the word of God, she had some faith. According to the word of God, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Do babies and young children have enough knowledge to have faith in God? Read the story below. I think that you will come to the same conclusion that I have. This is why I try to tell my son about Jesus daily. I am also working to instill the idea of praying to God everyday.



I, Karen, started going to church when I was about 6 months old. My daddy, Marcus, worked but he was also a Preacher.

When I an about 5 years old, my parents start going to a Bible school at night. They did not have any money for a babysitter. Therefore, my brother, Paul, and I go with them. We are given crayons and paper to play with. Paul colors, but I just sat and listen as the Bible is taught.

I begin to understand some of the Bible. Everyone said, “God writes your name in heaven”. Every time I ask, “Where is heaven?” I am given the same answer. They would always point to the sky.

At this time, we live out in the country in a ranch style house. It has a porch that goes across the front of the house. At the end of the porch was where I would go to alone to talk to God. I picked a spot in the sky to be my spot where my name was written.

We did not have a television or radio at this time. One day I went to talk to God at my spot. Looking up at my spot, I saw that it was very dark. This greatly disturbed me because it was so dark. I thought that God must be very angry with me for blotting out my name. I told God that I was very sorry for everything that I had ever done wrong. Nothing happened. My spot was still very dark.

I started crying and saying, “Please God, what have I done so bad? You have always cleared my spot before. Please God, don’t be mad at me!” With tears still rolling down my face, I asked, “Why?” I then said, “Fix it, please!” The whole sky was dark, but my spot cleared. I thanked God. He loved me. I was now happy.

Later that day, daddy came home from work. He said, “Hurricane Camille is coming. It is going to hit the Gulf Coast. This is going to cause very strong winds and rain.” I did not get upset or scared, because I had talked to God early and he had cleared my spot.


Later that same night, we loaded our car and left because of the storm. The storm hit our house. It took off the roof and porch. Most of the windowpanes were blown out. Everything in the house got soaked. The American Red Cross came. They gave us new beds and a new sofa. People came from far away to help fix the roof and windows. The man that we rented from paid for the materials. People that I did not even know was there helping and giving to us. God had heard me! He cleared my spot.

I continued talking to God for many months looking up into the sky. Later, we moved to a new location. By that time, I knew that I could talk to God anywhere. At the darkest times of my life, I go alone and talk to God. He always clears the way for me.


My mother told this story to me. This is a true story. It illustrates a very important principle. Babies and young children can understand in their own way. They can talk to God. However, it is often in a child-like way with child-like understanding. This child-like “Talking to God” helped Karen to know that everything would be o.k. God cleared the spot. He heard Karen.

Is not this kind of child-like faith we should all have faith. Jesus said, ““…Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.” (Mark 10:14-16).

Fine Print

Many times, I look around and it seems to me that non-Christians are doing better than Christians are. I do not understand why my husband fails to be able to get contract painting work. I ask
God why this other family owned painting company can find work yet they are not Christians. God reminds me that I cannot see what he sees or know what is going on with that family. He also reminds me that he can use the ungodly to bless the godly. I then thank God while suppressing a laugh as I remember that when Satan wants to do something he must first get permission from God. Then God can either deny access or grant access. However, the fine print is always added when permission is granted. A great example of this is found in Job. In chapter 1, Satan asks for permission to tempt Job. God answers and says, “…Behold all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand…” (Job 1:12).  Therefore, I can still rejoice even though Satan does not want our painting company to prosper. I rejoice because I know that at this time he cannot prevent my husband from getting subcontract work.

Satan has a plan, but the fine print stops him from being completely successful, unless we stop trusting God.

Coke Truck

It was a very hot summer day. Berry, Pearlie Mae and their 4 children had been picking cotton. They decided to take a water break. They went tot the house to get the water. Berry had a small amount of money. He asked if anyone wanted a coke. Of Course everyone did. He told them to rest and he would walk to the store. The store was about 2 miles one way.

Berry took off walking to the store. Pearlie Mae told the children to do their housework, while she cooked lunch and supper. She knew all the work needed to be done and they would have to go back to the fields and pick cotton until dark.

Berry had to walk all the way to the store. Back in those days, there were very few cars. He did not see any cars on the way to the store. When he got to the store, the coke truck was there to refill the drinks in the store. Berry was very outspoken. He told the coke man that he had just walked 2 miles for a coke for him and his family. The coke man asked, “Where do you live?” Berry told him. The coke man then said, “If you wait until I fill the drink boxes then I will give you a ride home. I am going to pass your house on the way to my next stop.” Not only did Berry wait, he also helped the coke man fill the drink boxes.

The Coke man drove and Berry rode on the side of the truck. The coke man drove slowly on the rough dirt road. Berry was very happy not to have to walk home toting the drinks. When they got close to his house, Berry jumped off the truck. Berry then ran ahead of the truck to show the way to his house.

Pearlie Mae and the children heard the truck coming and then saw Berry running in front pointing the way to the house. They started laughing. The coke truck stopped and Berry got a case of bottle cokes. Pearlie then asks, “I know that you went after a coke, but are you buying the whole truck load?” She had never seen the coke truck deliver cokes to a house before.  Berry replied, “No, just a case.’

This story has been passed down through the generations in my family.

Who Shall Be Saved?

Who Shall be Saved? The disciples of Jesus even asked this question after hearing the teaching of Jesus. Jesus had said, “That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”

The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever, believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This scripture is interesting because it says, “should not perish”. I have always wondered why the word “should” was used. Why not the word “will”? Therefore, is it possible to have a form of belief and still not be saved? After careful reading and studying, I have determined that the answer is Yes. James 2:19 (NIV) says, “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.” In addition, Matthew 7:21-23 (NKJV) says, ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”.

Why are some saved and some not? What can we do to know that we are saved? Well, a good start is reading the instruction manual. Just like televisions, cars, and washing machines come with an instruction manual; we also have an instruction manual. It is called the Holy Bible. Simply reading it and applying it to your life and your heart can solve many problems. In addition, the Bible clears says what we must do to insure our salvation. Here are four scriptures that give a clear picture of who will and who will not be saved.

1. Acts 2:38 says, “…Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

2. Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

3. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

4. Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”



From the scriptures it is clear that those who truly repent of their sins, desire Jesus, call on his name, and then seek after the kingdom of God will be saved. To repent means to renounce and turn completely away from sin. Therefore, it seems that a relationship with Jesus is the most important thing. Those that have a real relationship with Jesus will follow and do the will of Jesus. As we walk and talk with Jesus daily, he will abide with us. Therefore, when we see Jesus face to face on the Day of Judgment he will be able to say with a smile, well done my good and faithful servant. 

Ungratefulness in America

Three years ago, I came face to face with how ungrateful many people really are including me. Even now when I think about it, tears come to my eyes. I came to know a fourteen-year-old boy. His dad is in jail. The boy lives with his mother in Mexico. The boy is given a choice every weekday. He can go to school or he can go to work. The boy, who I am going to call Sam, knows that if he goes to school his mother will only be able to eat one bowl of beans that day. He knows that if he goes to work, they will both be able to eat two bowls of beans that day. Therefore, Sam goes to work with his Uncle. Sam’s Uncle is my brother-n-law. My brother-n-law asked my husband for some help because he cannot find any work. My brother-n-law is a bricklayer by trade. Because of the help that we gave, they have both been able to find work in a restaurant.

This got me to thinking. Here in America most of the people do not have to choice between getting a high school education and eating. Here in America we complain about many things that are not important. Most teenagers want the newest in electronics or clothing. Sam is excited over a new toothbrush, a pillow, and a new blanket. The blanket is only plain green and twin size. He is not concerned about name brand shoes or name brand blue jeans. We complain because the light bill is higher that normal. They do not have electricity because they cannot afford it. That means that not only does Sam and his mother work from daylight to dark 6 to 7 days a week, they also cook their food on a wood stove and wash their clothes on a scrub board or by hand. Why are we complaining? We access to a microwave, a stove, washer and dryer, a computer, and a couple of televisions. God help us all to be more thankful.

The Same Yesterday and Forever

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Many times in life, we want and believe for something that does not happen. Instead, something else happens. Usually the thing that happens is something that we do not like or want. An excellent example of this is found in the resurrection of Lazarus. Martha and Mary send for Jesus when Lazarus is sick. They know that Jesus is able to heal him. They are hoping for their brother to be healed. Instead, Lazarus dies. Now that Lazarus has been dead four days, Jesus arrives. Martha runs to meet him, but Mary stays at home. I believe that it is possible that she is angry because he did not heal her brother. Martha is also upset. We can see this because she says, “… if you would hadst been here, my brother had not died” (John 11:21). However, she still shows a little bit of faith by her next words, “But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee“(John 11:22).

After talking with Jesus, Martha calls for her sister Mary. Mary tells Jesus the same thing that Martha told him. Jesus understood that both Martha and Mary were upset. He also knew that their faith needed to be increased. He stilled had compassion on them as can be seen in the fact that he wept with them. Martha had some faith, but was having problems with doubt, but, “Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40). Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead were laid and Jesus prayed. Afterwards, “…he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go” (John 11:43-44). Jesus used the faith that she had, increased it, and performed a miracle that would increased the faith of Mary, the disciples, and all of that town.



Many times, we get upset or angry because we think that God is not doing anything. However, we do not know or see God’s plan. Sometimes God wants to use us as a witness for bigger and better things just as he did in here. Remember that Jesus is “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” Hebrews 13:8.

The Manufacture

Jesus knows the beginning from the end because he declared the, “end form the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:’” (Isaiah 46:10). “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8). This means that before the foundations of the world was laid Jesus was there. “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1). With words, God spoke the world into existence. The “Word” is Jesus. Therefore when Genesis says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1), it is saying the Jesus’ power created everything. “For by him were all things created, that are heaven, and that are in earth…” (Colossians 1:16).

Jesus knew each of us before we were formed in the womb. Since Jesus is the beginning and the end, he made all, and he knows all, it would seem that he would know everything about us. In book of Psalms, David writes, “O’ Lord, Thou hast searched me, and known me” (Psalms 139:1). David is saying; Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. You know me inside and out. David continues by saying, not only do you know everything about me; you are the one who made me. Isn’t great to know that God knows us, and he made us. He is the "manufactor" of all of us.

When we have a problem we should go back to the manufacture. Think about it, when we have problems with our vehicles we go to a mechanic. For example, I took my Dodge Ram truck to the mechanic when the check engine light came on. The mechanic was able to determine what the problem was and how to fix it. As I went to the mechanic, we should go to Jesus. He knows all about our problem and he is able and willing to fix the problem.

God is the manufactor of all of us.

Who Is Jesus?

The question, “Who is Jesus?” is not a new one. People have been seeking answers to that question for centuries. People were talking about Jesus and asking that very question. One day Jesus asked his disciples who people said that he was. They answered, “Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets” (Matthew 16:14). Obviously, the people could not agree who Jesus was even when he was on earth. Jesus then asked, “But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matthew 16:15-16). According to Jesus, the truth is revealed by divine revelation. those who receive this revelation are blessed..

After Pentecost, the gospel spread quickly throughout the know world. Thousands gave their heart and lives to Jesus. However, there is a devil seeking to deceive people. When people do not get their information from God or Godly leaders, it is easy for people to developed wrong ideas about Jesus. Many of these ideas are based on false information or false assumptions.

During the dark ages, there was a falling away from the truth. There are many reasons for this. The main reason was lack of knowledge of the word of God since “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17b). Most people during the dark ages were illiterate. Therefore, the religious people believed that only the Priest could understand the word of God. Since the printing press had yet to be invented, books had to be copied painstaking by hand. Therefore, only the rich could afford a bible.

During this period, false religious leaders were misleading many people. These religious leaders often ignored the truth of the scriptures. The Priest spread many false beliefs. The traditions of men were created and added. The people were looking for the truth and some of the priest and other men and women took advantage of the situation. In some places, the government was controlled by the church officials. Thankfully, some brave men and women decided to take a stand against the church officials. Some of the people sailed across the ocean to America because they wanted religious freedom. We now know them as the pilgrims. Later the United States of America was made up mostly of people would wanted to create a more prefect union that included religious freedom.

Over the years many people has taken advantage of people seeking the truth. Some have even taken one or two verses and created a new doctrine or religion from it. These false doctrines and religions blind the eyes of the people from the truth. The false doctrine and other religious beliefs placed people in bondage. This is clearly the work of the devil. Jesus came to set the captives free, not place them in more bondage. It is sad that often times the followers of false doctrines work harder to spread there ideas than Christians do at proclaiming the good news of Jesus. Through Jesus, we are free. Therefore, we should work to break the strong holds that the devil has on others.

Other people’s ideas are based on false assumptions. Some common false assumptions are
sins are too great
the word “all” does not mean all
Fathers are abusive therefore Jesus must be abusive.
They may feel that Jesus is angry with them.
Others feel that Jesus does not love them. Many times earthly fathers are hurtful or angry towards their children. Therefore, they feel that Jesus does not love them even though that could not be father from the truth.
Others based their ideas solely on the Bible. This is the best way. However, just having a bunch of facts about Jesus does not mean that you have a relationship with him. A relationship with Jesus is what Peter had. In order to have a relationship with Jesus, you need to know what he has to say about himself. Therefore it is best to take time each and everyday to read the word of God and pray. Ask Jesus to show you the truth. Remember the Bible says, “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…” (Philippians 2:12). This means to become humble and go to God with respect and reverence. From there you can truly, now that you are a child of God that you are greatly loved by God.

Demons and the Fight

Jesus always answers prayers when you pray with faith. However, you need to be careful while you are waiting for the answer. I recently learned this the hard way. This is especially true if your prayer is for the removal of evil spirits. Around the middle of May 2010, I started feeling a strong evil presence in the apartment that my husband and I rented. Living with us was my husband’s brother-n-law (Mario), a nephew, and three other men. The men and Mario liked to drink. My husband and I did not approve. I started praying everyday that Jesus would remove the evil spirits from the apartment. I explained many times to Jesus that my baby was due to be born June 27^th and that I did not want him to live were evil spirits were. I felt like Jesus was not listening to me because the evil presence seemed to just get stronger. I even started seeing a black shadow of a man. Every time that that I saw this shadow, I would scream, “Get out of here in the Name of Jesus”. The shadow would leave for a couple of days and then come back. The men continued to drink outside in the parking lot. I would ask Concho, my husband, to go and talk to them every time that they drank. He did but they never listened.

I will always remember the last time that they drank in the parking lot. It was Saturday June 19^th. My brother-n-law asked to borrow the truck to go to Winn-Dixie. At this time, he was not drinking and he wanted to send some money to his wife. Therefore, we agreed. My brother-n-law and his nephew, Samuel, went to the store. Sometime later Samuel came back in but Mario did not. Samuel said that Mario was drinking outside with Robert. I was concerned about my truck so I went outside to make sure they were not in my truck. They were in Hector’s vehicle. Hector had given Robert the key so they could listen to music while drinking. About 10 p.m., my husband went outside to talk to them. Again, they did not listen. About 15 minutes later, he came back inside. My husband and I tried to go to sleep, but neither of us could sleep. I had a bad feeling that something was going to happen to Mario, Robert, and Hector. At first, I thought that they might try to use my truck to go somewhere, so I asked my husband if he had the key. Thankfully, he did. I again tried to sleep, but could not. Therefore, I prayed that Jesus would remove the evil spirits from the apartment. The phone rang at 12 am on Sunday morning. Beto called and said that Mario and Robert were fighting. My husband answered, “It is not my problem”. About 2 minutes later Beto came and beat on the door to our room. My husband opened the door and Beto said, “They are crazy. They are fighting with knives.” My husband got his clothes on, got the machete, and went outside. I started praying for the safely of my husband and tried to explain to Jesus that I asked for the evil spirits to leave, not for everyone to start trying to kill each other. I felt like Jesus had misunderstood me. About 5 min later, my husband came in with blood covering both arms from his elbows to the tips of his fingers. He told me to get up and he grabbed a towel. I got up and ran after him. He went up stairs and got Hector because Robert is Hector’s cousin. I am so scared that my husband is very badly hurt. He tells me that I he all right, but Mario is hurt. No one will let me see Mario. Beto and Concho are outside trying to stop the bleeding. Hector looks for Robert in the parking lot and then comes back. He then tries to fight Beto. I do not understand why. Concho is able to stop the fight. He then tells Hector to leave. Thankfully, Hector leaves. The bleeding does not stop. They ask me how to stop the bleeding. I reply, “If it does not stop by applying pressure, then he must go to the hospital. The bleeding from Mario’s head does not stop. We take him to the hospital. At the hospital, they put staples in his head and sew up the gash in his arm. Now Hector, Robert, Mario, and Samuel all live somewhere else.

Next time that I pray for the removal of evil spirits, I will remember what it says in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5. “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:4-8). If I ever need to pray for the removal of evil spirits, I am going to have more communication with Concho and others. In addition, when you start praying with faith Jesus starts working but the devil also fights back. Therefore, you need to be ready and strong in faith. Mario could have died. Yes, all of the evil spirits are now gone from the apartment. However, I now realize that every time the black shadow came back the demons that lived in those men were stronger. My husband took Mario to South Caroline and Robert went to Texas. However, the anger is still with both men. Mario still would like to kill Robert and Hector. I hope that one day, Mario will be set free from his demons and that Jesus moves in. I have recently learned that this was not his first fight, but it could have been his last.

Cattle Gap

In the late 60’s my grandparents moved to an oilfield town with their two children. My grandfather in the oilfields in that town. The family rented a ranch style house. The house was sat back about ¼ of a mile from the main road. On Sundays the family went to church. At church they were taught about Jesus and never to lie. In Sunday school, the children were taught to ask Jesus if they needed help and he would always answer.

When my Uncle Jerry was about 10 years old and in the 5th grade, his sister Karen starts 1st grade. This is going to be the 1st time that she will be going to school, so their father gives Jerry the job of looking out for her. They walk to the end of their driveway where their ride will pick them up. At the end of the driveway is a cattle gap. (A cattle gap is made out oilfield pipe. With the pipe running long ways, about twelve pipes with three inches between that is welded to a pipe on both ends laid flat between two ditches. The ditch is about 12 inches deep.) They had to go across the cattle gape to get to the main road. Karen at this time had never walked across the cattle gap before in her life. Jerry walks across the gap with no problem. Now it is Karen’s turn. She looks at it and is so scared, but there is know other way. Jerry comes back over and gets her by her hand and starts helping her over. Karen’s foot slides in. She is in a mess with one foot on the ground in between the pipes. The pipes come up to her thigh. Her thigh is now jammed in between the pipes with no way to simple pull her out. She screams, but no body hears her but Jerry and she knows that there is no way that Jerry will be strong enough to bend the pipe because oil field pipe is very strong. Therefore, she says, “Jesus please help us”. Jerry then squats down, takes hold of the pipe with his hands, and spreads the two pieces of pipe apart. They then thank Jesus for his help.

When their ride comes, they go on to school as if nothing has happen. That night Marcus, their father, asks about Karen’s first day of school. She shows him her leg and then tells him how she fell in the cattle gap and how Jerry bent the pipe to get her out. Marcus calls for Jerry. He then reminds both of them what will happen if they lie to him. Marcus ask Jerry what happen to Karen’s leg. Jerry tells him the same story as Karen told. Now Marcus is getting upset because he believes they are lying. He works with oil field pipe almost every day and knows that it is impossible for a 10 year old to bend the pipe. However he does not feel like walking to the cattle gap to check their story.

Marcus gets the whole family up early and they all go to the cattle gap. On the way to the gap, he tells them if they lied, he would teach them a lesson they would never for get. At the gap, they all get out of the car and Karen shows her father where she fell in. Marcus looks at the bent pipe. He replies by saying, “Some thing sure spread the pipes apart”. He then turns to Jerry and asks, “how did you spread the pipe apart”. “Well”, said Jerry, “I got scared that I would get a spanking for letting her get hurt and I had no other choice but to make the space bigger and Karen asked Jesus for help. So I guess Jesus gave me the strength to pull the pipes apart.” Marcus looked again at the pipe and back at Jerry while shaking his head. Marcus bent down and tried to pull the pipe apart. You know what? He could not. They all went back to the house. Ann said something had to have helped Jerry and Karen. Karen now knew that Jesus would answer her prayers as she had been taught in Sunday school. She was surprised that her parents did not understand how the pipes were pulled apart. She wondered why her parents did not they were remember the lessons from church.

New Wine

Every time we come to church, God has a feast prepared. There is milk, meat, vegetables, fruits, water, and wine.
The water is symbolic of salvation. John 4:13-14 says, “Jesus answered and said unto her, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The milk is for the babes in Christ. Paul talks about milk for babes in Christ when he says, “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.” (Corinthians 3:2).
The Fruit, vegetables and meat are for everyone that is mature enough to handle it.
The wine is for all Christians.

When we are saved, we are filled with the Holy Spirit. According to Jesus, “…Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” (John 3:5).
However, there is still another gift that all of us can freely receive. It is the wine that comes from Jesus. On the day of Pentecost, two important things happened.
1. They were given the joy of the Lord.
2. The gift of tongues and interpretation was given.

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him” (Psalms 28:7).

“…The Joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).

Power and strength have similar meanings.

On the day of Pentecost, many people thought that that those disciples were drunk. They had received an over filling of the joy of the Lord. The Prophet Joel prophesied this. “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:” (Joel 2:28).

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” (Acts 2:17).


When Jesus died on the Cross-, the veil in the temple was ripped from top to bottom. That allowed everyone to enter into the Holy of Holies. We spiritual enter into the Presence of God through worship, praise, and prayer. The Old Testament temple is a symbolic representation of how we get to Jesus. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name” (Psalms 100:4). To put that scripture into modern terminology, “Come onto the parking lot with thanksgiving and into the door with praise: be thankful to him, and bless his names.” We thank him for what he has done, and we praise him because of who he is. He is our refuge, strength, hope, provider, comforter, and savior. Next, is the showbread. Jesus is the Bread and The Word. Then, is the Holy of Holies. This is where in the temple the Ark of the Covenant was. Now, this is where we can seek the face of God. We do not have to go through the priest. We can go straight to God and tell him our problems. He already knows all. He is just waiting for us to trust him and act like his children. Then, he can hold us, wipe away the tears, and give us joy that is unspeakable. No one can leave a church without the look of joy on their face after spending time in the arms of God, our loving father. We need to get “drunk” on the joy that can come only from Jesus. This new wine is offered for all Christians.

1. To put this into the normal church order,
2. We come to church thankful for something.
3. We have fellowship with others- that should be somewhat edifying.
4. We offer praise and worship with songs and singing
5. We give our tithes and offerings as another form of worship
6. We feast on the word of God- the milk, meat, vegetables, and fruit - the preaching
7. During the time of invitation- we go to God with whatever, this is the time to boldly walk into the Holy of Holies and let God show his love and mercy.
8. We go with a renewed spirit and let others know what God has done. Making sure to take the joy of the Lord with us


We should never have Christians with frowns on there faces during any of the above steps. Even though life is hard and bad things happen, God is still on the throne. We are saved. There is nothing worse that going to Hell. Jesus has saved us from the worse possible fate. So many times a Christian works the muscles in there faces overtime. No wonder they are so tired. Smile it is easier on your facial muscles. Smile God loves you. Smile nothing last forever on this earth.

The world is looking for the answer. They will not look to you for the answer if you look like you are anger or sad. They have enough of that in the world. They are looking for the “New Wine” (The Joy) that is only found in Jesus. Therefore, let us go to God and get a refilling of that Joy every day and most especially on Sunday.
